Fakenham Town Band

Eb Bass - Keith "Tank" Sharples

Keith joined the band in October 2010 having moved into the area from the 'brass band' North of England. However he started his playing career in 1977.

Keith has had a wide and varied music career, regularly playing Jazz, Folk, Punk and other styles all over Europe. The list of instruments he plays is Tuba, Penny Whistle, Ukulele, Valve Trombone, Fife, Spoons, Double Bass and BBb Bass.

Musical credits include playing for the chart rock band "The La's", the BBC and has played for "The Brasshoppers" over the last 22 years. Keith began in Ormskirk Town Band and later moved to Skelmersdale Prize Band in Lancashire where he graced the bass rank, mostly on EEb, but occasionally BBb Bass. He has helped out a lot of of the 'big boys' in his time, including Fodens and Leyland.

Keith enjoys all genres of music, and particularly likes the team spirit of Fakenham Town Band, and the desire to 'get it right'.

Other hobbies include Fishing, Shooting, Brewing and Ham Radio. For the latter, Keith jointly holds 3 world records for long distance communications from a back-pack radio set. Keith was in Christchurch, New Zealand while his friend was in Blackpool. Recordings of this can be found on YouTube.
